Go: Returning Discipleship to the Frontlines of Faith

by Preston Sprinkle

Item Number: 1377

Book -- Awakenings can be wonderful, but the ones in this book are startling. Church no longer seems relevant or helpful--or even good--to many people, so they are leaving (or not even bothering to show up). Many of those who make it to Sunday service are biblically illiterate, lack commitment to evangelism and mission, and have a shallow faith. In a study commissioned by The Navigators, the Barna Group has confirmed some of our deepest concerns. Preston Sprinkle offers the evidence in Go, along with practical solutions that Jesus employed with his earliest followers and that we can use too. Those disciple-making tactics still work today and are deeply needed to fulfill the great commission.

God's Not Dead

Item Number:

DVD -- Present-day college freshman and devout Christian, Josh Wheaton (Shane Harper), finds his faith challenged on his first day of Philosophy class by the dogmatic and argumentative Professor Radisson (Kevin Sorbo). Radisson begins class by informing students that they will need to disavow, in writing, the existence of God on that first day, or face a failing grade. As other students in the class begin scribbling the words "God Is Dead" on pieces of paper as instructed, Josh find himself at a crossroads, having to choose between his faith and his future. Josh offers a nervous refusal, provoking an irate reaction from his smug professor. Radisson assigns him a daunting task: if Josh will not admit that "God Is Dead," he must prove God's existence by presenting well-researched, intellectual arguments and evidence over the course of the semester, and engage Radisson in a head-to-head debate in front of the class. If Josh fails to convince his classmates of God's existence, he will fail the course and hinder his lofty academic goals. With almost no one in his corner, Josh wonders if he can really fight for what he believes. Can he actually prove the existence of God? Wouldn't it just be easier just to write "God Is Dead" and put the whole incident behind him? GOD'S NOT DEAD weaves together multiple stories of faith, doubt and disbelief, culminating in a dramatic call to action. The film will educate, entertain, and inspire moviegoers to explore what they really believe about God, igniting important conversations and life-changing decisions.

Guardrails: Six Principles for a Multiplying Church

by Alan Briggs and David Ferguson

Item Number: 1411

Book -- Every impulse to share the gospel and make disciples is a good impulse. But without a structure to organize our impulses and focus our vision, the great commission can drive us straight into burnout. Healthy church growth is measured not by full schedules or even packed seats but by a steady multiplication of disciples of Jesus. In Guardrails: Six Principles for a Multiplying Church Pastor Alan Briggs demonstrates that this multiplication only happens when we organize ourselves around discipleship that is simple, holistic, adaptable, regular, reproducible, and positive. These six principles allow for sustainable growth in a church's mission, for the health of God's people and the sake of the world.

God Created Humanism: The Christian Basis Of Secular Values

by Theo Hobson

Item Number: 1479

Book -- In this compelling account of the origins and evolution of our secular worldview, Theo Hobson shows how Christian values continue to underpin our public morality, how faith remains indispensable to Western humanism, and how atheistic humanism represents a dead end. At the same time, he offers a timely warning against the dangers of a religious-secular culture war, given the radically politicized and destructive forms of religion endemic in the world today. Here is a fresh and provocative argument about religion and politics—but one that doesn't fit into the normal boxes. It suggests that although the public creed of the West is best described as "secular humanism," we can only really understand and affirm secular humanism if we see how firmly it is based on Christian norms and values. If we don't, the West is divided: mired in a stagnant stand-off between fundamentalist atheism and an equally hard-line Christian theism. God Created Humanism offers a more nuanced and historically persuasive way forward, showing just how much our secular morality owes to Christianity, and how it can only find coherence through a new and positive view of its origins.

Going Solo: Hope and Healing for the Single Mom or Dad

by Robert Beeson

Item Number: 1530

Book -- As parents face the difficult reality of a broken home, a sense of being completely overwhelmed can shut down the perspective they need to find restoration. Parents need to know that they can choose to define this season of their lives, instead of becoming defined by circumstances. They can deliberately look toward God and come to a deeper understanding of His true nature, power, and intimate care. As this former Christian music industry executive shares his story of divorce, his seven years as a single father, and his transition to a second marriage and a blended family, he also offers readers some hard-learned lessons and insights on being an effective, empathetic, and empowered single parent, answering crucial questions such as: How do I find peace when everything around me is chaos? How do I manage meeting needs when I have nothing to give? How and where do I begin again? The author addresses the fears and exhaustion of single parenting, while revealing the keys to gaining strength and courage for each day. He also shares how he found his “solo” relationship with his heavenly Father through his “solo” parenting season. Readers will learn five helpful habits and practical healing principles they can immediately apply in this season of life.
